The Algorithm Knows
What It's Doing

We like to say our story began with an Instagram story. One random day, Chinwekene posted a tweet that said, “Stop liking my stories and just tell me you love me.” Kenechukwu saw it, laughed, and decided that was his cue. A reply turned into a conversation, the conversation turned into a first date on August 16, 2022, and from there, everything just felt easy.

In that first week alone, we went on four dates, simply because we didn’t want the time together to end. Since then, we’ve pretty much been inseparable. What started online has grown into real partnership, a lot of laughter, mutual encouragement, and a deep, steady love.

Now we get to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people we love. And yes, we fully support Instagram shooting its shot again for others. It clearly works.

The Proposal

From pretty early on, Chinwekene made one thing very clear: if a proposal was ever going to happen, the ring had to be exactly right. Kenechukwu, being the excellent listener that he is, quietly gathered notes like a dedicated project manager and went to work.

He decided the proposal would happen on the rooftop of Chinwekene's home, a place that already felt special. To make sure she didn't suspect anything, he randomly started suggesting rooftop hangouts ahead of time, as if this was suddenly a normal weekly activity.

On the actual day, he planned a relaxing day out together. Very calm. Very normal. Except, because Chinwekene is naturally curious and has everybody's location on her phone, she definitely had a few suspicions. But she chose peace and pretended not to notice.

Later that evening, we were "getting ready for dinner" when we stepped outside and saw it: a beautifully candlelit stairway leading up to the roof. At the top were cherry blossoms, a sweet callback to our time in Portugal. It was romantic, intentional, and perfectly us.

When we reached the rooftop, Kenechukwu got down on one knee and asked the big question. And yes, the answer was immediate. Just like that, our forever officially began.
